A Breakfast of Brain Juice
It was interactive; it was fun, thanks to our speaker Gordon ‘Glasgow’ Brown for sharing with us his celebration of creativity.
Gordon Brown, managing director of Circuit Break and creator of Brain Juice posed the question to the sell out crowd “What is creativity?”.
With his unique style and interesting anecdotes Gordon took us on a whirl wind trip through creativity and how we can all learn how to use it to our best advantage.
It’s all about good ideas that come from brainstorming loads of small ideas – the eureka moment has plenty of thought and consideration behind it and it’s certainly not all about trying to focus on just one idea.
There are, what I like to call ‘energy vampires’ out there and Gordon talked us through the barriers to watch out for:
- Destructive critic
- Need for conformity
- No time
- Physical environment
- Bravery
Whether you pop out of the office for a quick fag or change your route to work in the morning all these breaks from the norm can spark off creative thinking so make sure you pop out for a stroll at lunchtime or chat to your colleagues about the new series of Dallas, rest assured it will get the brain motivated and stimulated to think differently. OK some thoughts might be a load of rubbish but at least you’re having them, and the law of averages says a great one will come along soon, maybe even 2 or 3 will – a bit like buses!
Anyway, we had great fun with hula hoops et al and if you missed it then have a wee watch of our video to see what we got up to, below are a few tweets from some of our inspired audience:
Taking inspiration from today’s #commsbreakfast, we’ve had a very positive brainstorm on our 2013 #client #experience plan
